Property Managers Show Solidarity in Educating Residents about BedbugsNJ Property Managers Partner with BedBug Central to Provide Communities with a Free Educational Seminar on Bedbugs and Strategies for Prevention and Treatment Wednesday June 22 2011 @ 02:55 PM Source:BedBug Central
Bergen, N.J. (June, 22, 2011)—With bedbug season only weeks away, RCP Management, a New Jersey-based property management firm with more than 70 communities throughout the state, will host a free bedbug seminar on June 28 to arm residents with tips for avoiding and treating infestations while dispelling myths and fears associated with this pervasive pest.
The management company’s seminar titled, “Keeping Our Community Bedbug Free: Proactive Strategies and Debunking Bedbug Myths” will be held at the Palisadium Health Club and Spa at 700 Palisadium Drive Cliffside Park, NJ from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Kimberly Calabrese, a building manager for RCP, acknowledged that this seminar was organized to ensure that residents are educated about bedbugs and understand the proactive actions they can take help keep their community bedbug free.
“Bedbugs are unlike other pests in that they have an unrivaled ability to stir panic and fear in residents. I believe these feelings emerge from misunderstanding,” said Calabrese. “The purpose of this seminar is not only to educate the community about bedbugs, but to show them there are proactive measures that can take to protect themselves.”
To educate the Cliffside Park community, RCP has recruited renowned research entomologist Jeffrey White, of BedBug Central and Phil Cooper, president of BedBug Central. White and Cooper will discuss personal protection, bedbug biology and behavior, how to inspect the home, tips to avoid bedbugs and more.
“RCP is taking a progressive approach to help reduce the level of risk their community faces with bedbugs,” said White. “By educating residents, RCP not only dispels the myths and fears associated with bedbugs, but they also help ensure community participation in proactive behavior and treatment.”
As the first seminar in an on-going education series, the event is open to a variety of condominium and apartment associations. According to Liz Comando, Principal of RCP Management, this event was opened to several properties because of how pervasive bedbugs have become.
“Normally these events are property-exclusive, however, bedbugs pose such a substantial problem for our surrounding communities at-large, that we all need to do our part to help everyone manage the issue effectively,” said Comando.
This first seminar will be open to Winston Towers 200 and Carlyle Towers managed by RCP Management and Winston Towers 300 managed by Signature Management. Limited space is available for non-residents.
In addition to learning about bedbugs and treatment strategies, attendees will also learn about devices that aid in bedbug treatment such as mattress encasements, detection devices, contact-kill sprays, interception devices and more.
